The book "The Armenian Genocide is Affirmed by the International Academic, Legal, and Human Rights Community" (2015, ISBN 978-9939-52-929-5) by Prof. Nikolay Hovhannisyan, Correspondent Member, NAS, Armenia; Honored Scientist of Armenia; Advisor to the Director, Institute of Oriental Studies, NAS, Armenia; Advisor to the Head–Research Fellow of the Analytical Center, INSS, MOD, Armenia; PSAA Board member, Doctor of History, has been published.
The author dedicated it to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide perpetrated in the Ottoman Empire a hundred years ago. For about half a century the eminent genocidologist has studied issues of the Armenian Genocide, as well as of the genocides committed in different countries of Asia, Africa and Europe during 20-21th centuries. Thoroughly analyzing the accumulated huge amount of sources, official documents and other material Dr. Hovhannisyan reviews a number of the antiquated views dominant in the field, offering conceptual and strategic new approaches in the assessment of the Armenian Genocide masterminded in the Ottoman Empire in 1915.
This leads to the following conclusions:
• The Armenian Genocide is an internationally recognized genocide – affirmed by the international academic, legal, and human rights community.
• The Ottoman Empire is not only the first country to commit the 20th century's first genocide – the Armenian Genocide, but also the first country to recognize it in 1919 according to the Ottoman State Special Military Tribunal’s verdict.
• Turkey is the founder of the industry of the Genocide denial.
• A new phase has begun – the transition from the recognition phase of the Armenian Genocide perpetrated in the Ottoman Empire to the serious consequences elimination and compensation phase.
