Archbishop Paren Avedikian was hosted today at the National Defense Research University, MoD, RA. The guest was received by the NDRU head, Doctor of Political Science, Professor, LTG (r) Hayk Kotanjian. The NDRU Vice President for research – Head of the Institute for National Strategic Studies, PhD in history Benyamin Poghosyan also participated in the meeting.

His Eminence Archbishop Paren Avetikian was chosen to serve as member of the Union Committee of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America from 1977 to 1999. In 1996, he moved to Armenia and was appointed to serve as Vicar General of the Diocese of Shirak. On September 17, 2000 in the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin, he was ordained and consecrated as a bishop by His Holiness Karekin II. Archbishop Paren retired from active service in 2011.

The Archbishop Avetikian has a wide scope of spiritual and academic-educational activities. He has a professional knowledge in the spheres of management, art history, philosophy and sociology. During the visit to the National Defense Research University he presented high quality maps of the region surrounding Armenia to the NDRU digital library.

Professor, LTG Hayk Kotanjian expressed his gratitude to the estimable representative of the intellectual elite of the Armenian Apostolic Church for the valuable gifts presented to the National Defense Research University.
